Living a “genuine Country Lifestyle” is something that only the Wedderwill Country Estate can offer.
There are many home sites in the Helderberg Basin which enjoy beautiful views. But, no other “Country Estate” offers such low density – 84 homes on 400 ha. You have neighbours, without living on top of each other.
Being able to go for a stroll in the morning or after work – walking along the trails through the vineyards or the game reserve is something special.
As I am writing this I hear the cry of the Fish Eagle as he circles high above. (We have recorded over 200 different bird species).
There is only 1 plot we have for sale are on our last subdivision, De Werf. There will be no further subdivisions, no further plots.
Our state of the art security system uses finger print access control, our 24 cameras scan the entire perimeter 24/7. Our on site security controller could dispatch our patrol vehicle should the need arise.
Only 35 minutes from Cape Town, overlooking Somerset West & False Bay
Living a country lifestyle is in competition with the need to be close to town where you are working. Wedderwill offers a scenic environment and life on an active wine farm. Low density living – 84 lucky families share nearly 400ha (over 200 ha are a private game reserve).
6 Precincts have been developed for the 84 homes. Beautiful mountain scenery is the draw-card for some – stunning sea views for others. Vineyards on top of rolling hills right up to the mountain slopes drew some ex-city dwellers here.
Hiking/Biking/Horse riding trails, stretching 15 km through vineyards, pine forest and the game reserve helped make me up my mind. Sailing on our 7ha lake was the bonus. I want to teach our grandchildren to sail right here. Peace and tranquility are appreciated by all the residents who have escaped from the noisy traffic and suburbs.
For me it is Paradise on earth – the other one can wait.
Wedderwill is truly one of the most beautiful places I have seen – and I have travelled the world” – the words of Peter Leitner, when he first set foot on Wedderwill.
Do you realize how lucky you are to live here”, said Chris Meller, ex South African now living in Sydney, when he visited the Estate.
Do you ever get tired of these views – or take them for granted? – Was the question of Wolf Vosse’s Mother in Law, visiting from Kloof, Natal.
Our Residents some of which have been staying on Wedderwill since the beginning of Wedderwill Estate made some comments on their stay and their quality of life at
Wedderwill. See what our residents say – click on their names on the left.
When I look back, I think what first attracted us to Wedderwill was the panoramic views and rural lifestyle it offered a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Somerset West. In essence, a lifestyle that we had always wanted but never managed to achieve.
Now, after nearly three years at Wedderwill, we still have and enjoy the views and lifestyle, but realise there is so much more.
A few things spring to mind – peace and tranquility away from the noise and humdrum of normal suburban life, an awareness of the seasons and what is happening around us, but most of all, a feeling each time the gate closes behind us that we are on holiday.
Our only regrets – summer mornings, standing on the stoep knowing that we have to leave for work in 10 minutes time, counteracted of course by the fact that come evening, we will be on holiday again.
Comments by Pam & Wolf Vosse
We were the first to build our home on Wedderwill. I love life on the farm because my daughter and I love to ride our horses in this kind of environment. The beautiful countryside, the fact that we live so close to our horses and are able to go for outrides, without having to cross suburban roads makes it for me.
Wolf commenting on Pam’s love for the land:
Pam should have married a farmer, she has such a close connection to anything growing. She has established a Blueberry plantation on our 5500m2 property which provides a challenge and such satisfaction for her.
For myself, I run and enjoy the mountain bike on a regular basis. Can you really better the enjoyment I get when I pass through the vineyards, the open fields, along the horse paddocks and the unspoiled natural Fynbos?
The views and the peace and tranquillity are the cream on the top. I live on a piece of Paradise on this earth, the other paradise can wait.
